Should you consider Fairview Heights real estate agents working for the same broker?  Should you interview real estate agents from the same brokerage?  Remember, a particular broker may have offices scattered all over the city.

Regardless of how you put it, these scenarios basically point at the same thing – agents who are working for the same broker and under the same license.  Therefore, these agents are most likely governed by the same principles and policies.  So, should you interview with these agents?  No, definitely not.  Here are a few of the reasons why not:

  • The Fairview Heights real estate agents may likely compare notes and discuss things about you.  They will likely come prepared for you especially if you have already interviewed one agent from the same brokerage.  You will find it hard to maintain an upper hand.
  • Personal issues between agents may affect you and your transactions.  They may come from the same brokerage, but this does not mean that they are friends.  Personal animosities or resentments may affect your sale.  This definitely could happen.  You could get the rug pull under you because of personal vendettas.
  • You could end up with the bad choice.  If the agents are friends, they may not agree to being interviewed.  They may not want to compete against one another, so you could end up with the bad agent or the less competent one.  Your choice will be limited.  It is better then that you interview people from other brokerage.
  • They may be very particular about how they do business and they may not be comfortable revealing things to you when they know you would be comparing their system from those of another’s.  They may be wary with the thought that you might even reveal their system to their colleagues.
  • The benefits and drawbacks offered by these agents are likely the same.  After all, they are from the same brokerage.  They likely charge the same commission rate.  You will also likely get the same advertising exposure.

The competition between Fairview Heights real estate agents is fierce regardless of whether or not they work for the same brokerage office.  There are people who may care deeply about losing a client over to a colleague from the same company.  Therefore, it is definitely not a good idea to interview or consider agents from the same brokerage firm.  You will likely get better options if you would consider people from different companies.
